MAUI POP WARNER FOOTBALL PRACTICE REQUIREMENTS
Practice is critical in ensuring each player's safety and development. In order to keep all participants safe, Maui Pop Warner strictly adheres to all National and Conference rules and regulations regarding practice sessions. Please note these rules apply to all divisions.
PRE-SEASON PRACTICES (Before Labor Day) for all teams and squads, begin on, August 2nd. It is MANDATORY that participants attend all practices in August.
Under national Pop Warner & Maui Pop Warner requirements, each player must meet the following practice/conditioning requirements before they can participate in a scrimmage or game:
In order for each participant to achieve the Pop Warner & Maui Pop Warner required number of hours of conditioning & fundamental skills training, coaches shall hold the maximum allowed 10 hours of practice time, per week for the entire month of August. Your coach or team President will provide you with a practice schedule.
WEEK #1: 10 hours of conditioning (shorts and shirts-no pads), followed by
WEEK #2: 10 hours of conditioning (helmets only), followed by
WEEK #3: 10 hours of player readiness (full pads)
REGULAR SEASON PRACTICE: After Labor Day, no team may schedule more than 6 hours of practice per week. Each player is expected to attend ALL practices unless they are ill or have a required school event. It is difficult for players missing any of these practices to "catch up" to the rest of the team in terms of development and understanding. It also places an unnecessary burden on the coaching volunteers and takes away training and development time from the players that did attend. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the practice commitment, please speak to the Head Coach. Practice schedule will issued by the Head Coach or Team President.
